Linux passwd

Reset root password if you are using GRUB as a boot loader

Select the kernal when booting

Press ”e” key to stop grub loading…

Redhat

again

press ‘e‘ key to edit the entry and that select second line (the word starting with ‘kernal‘)

Append the letter S (or word Single) to the end of the (kernel) second line that selected

hit enter key

Now press the b key to boot the Linux kernel into (U selected second line)
that is single user mode

At prompt (Blue screen) type passwd command to reset password:

Change the root password, enter:

# passwd

Finally reboot system:

# sync
# reboot

If boot loader is LILO(LInux LOader)

Type

Boot: linux single

If you get # prompt you should type passwd command

#passwd then

U can reboot ur system…
